Cabinet okays Limited Waiver For Quarrying And Sand Mining

Thiruvananthapuram: The Cabinet on Wednesday decided to grant limited exemption for quarry and sand mining operations in the state in view of the crisis in construction secto

The decision was taken in view the strike threat by Confederation of Construction Organizations (CCO) led by the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI) on January 20, 21 and 22. They submitted a demands charter to Chief Minister on January 6.
                                                   
   
Exemptions would be conveyed to the Green Tribunal which had imposed certain restrictions on the quarries and sand mining operations. Cabinet okays Waiver  Exemptions are being given only for construction activities.

Other decisions

Rs 40 crore assistance for KSRTC Additional Chief Secretary V Somasundaram has been given additional charge of Planning Cabinet approved appointment of IAS officer, N Prashanth, as private secretary to Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala Cabinet decided to set up Cancer Institute and Research Centre on the campus of Cochin Medical College which was taken over by the Government recently.
